    Q:
How to remove and install the IAT/MAP sensor on Subaru Forester? Posted by Customer
    A:
On 2000 and 2001 Legacy and Outback models with an automatic transaxle, on 2002 Legacy and Outback models and on 2000 through 2002 Forester models, the Intake Manifold Temperature Sensor is used. The Intake Manifold Temperature Sensor is positioned near the ignition coil on top of the intake manifold. First, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, disconnect the spark plug wires from the coil high tension terminals for Ns.2&4 cylinders. Next, disconnect the electrical connector from the Intake Manifold Temperature Sensor. To remove the Intake Manifold Temperature Sensor from the intake manifold, depress the release tab to disconnect the electrical connector, then remove the mounting bolts for the sensor and take it out as well. After that, remove the mounting bolts for the Intake Manifold Temperature Sensor and remove it too. Then take out of service the old one by removing its o-ring seal. It is important to also remember that you will need to discard the old o-ring that was located in this item while installing a new one or reinstalling an old component into your systems. Also, each time you are replacing either an old or a new system with used equipment, always ensure that you use a fresh o-ring to avoid air leaks in this area during the connection of Intake Manifold Temperature Sensors. Finally, installation is in the reverse order of removal.
