For 2000 through 2004 Baja, Legacy, and Outback models, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery, then remove the front cover and center panel. Next, take out the radio mounting bracket screws to detach the radio from the instrument panel, pull out the radio and mounting bracket assembly to disconnect the antenna lead and electrical connectors, and finally remove the radio from its mounting bracket. For 2005 and later models, the process begins similarly with the battery disconnection, followed by the removal of the console box, front panel, and side garnish, then the radio mounting screws, pulling out the radio to disconnect the necessary leads, and removing it from the mounting bracket. In Forester models, disconnect the battery, remove the front cover and center console panel, take out the radio mounting screws, pull out the radio to disconnect the leads, and remove it. For front door speakers, remove the front door trim panel, take out the speaker mounting screws, pull out the speaker, disconnect the electrical connector, and remove the speaker. For rear door speakers, remove the rear door trim panel, take out the speaker mounting screws, pull out the speaker, disconnect the electrical connector, and remove the speaker. Installation is the reverse of removal for all components.

Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the front cover and the center panel. Remove the radio mounting screws. Pull out the radio and mounting bracket assembly far enough to disconnect the antenna lead and electrical connectors from the backside of the radio, and remove the radio.
