    Q:
How to change the engine oil and filter on Subaru Forester? Posted by Customer
    A:
Oil changes should be regular if one is to care for the engine of his/her car because after a while, the oil in it becomes diluted and contaminated, causing premature wear out of the engine. When changing the oil filter and oil on your vehicle make sure that you have drain pan, rubber gloves, breaker bar/sockets and filter wrench available. You can also use rags or newspapers to wipe up spills. Hoist, ramps or jacks will allow you get under your car more easily. Find out where it is by draining some warm-up before removing an oil plug from an engine. In order to avoid getting a bad reading put the car on a level ground surface, heat up the engine and then remove the oil filler cap. Jack-up a vehicle with a floor jack; place drain pan beneath an oil plug; take off a plug; wait till all old oil has been drained out; check whether there are metal shavings in it; clean them away from an opening by wiping off all smudges remained there before reinstalling that plug carefully into its proper position; move that pan under a new filter. Loosen and take out old filters for organizing surfaces cleanly leaving no traces of other gaskets on it too as well as lubricating new ones using only clear internal combustion fluid instead so as positioning them by hand until being pushed against sealing surfaces after tightening slightly another three quarters round more or less then lower tools finally once again these back down below before taking such objects away entirely whenever everything else looks good enough not trying anything here anymore due its contact again since we're going down now anyway huh now let's start pouring fresh gas inside through any small door-like hole attached at top-right in order fill whole empty space around right hand corner plus operating motor briefly with choke open making ignition turned off but ready switch-on button pressed twice instead during cold season just case when starting first time otherwise checking sporadically after having had changed one's previous lot about new oillater on;. Check for leakages at the oil filter and drain plug, tighten if needed then re-checking its level again. After changing oil, check for any leaks or the oil levels. Finally, take it to a proper recycling plant when finished rather than pouring it in a river or flushing it in a toilet.

    Q:
How to perform an oil and oil filter change and properly disposing of the used oil on Subaru Impreza? Posted by Customer
    A:
The engine is best served by having the oil changed regularly because with time, the old oil becomes diluted and contaminated causing a premature engine wear. Make sure you have all the tools you need and plenty of rags or newspapers to mop up spills before beginning. This can be achieved by using a hoist, ramps or jack stands that will enhance easy access under the vehicle. Park it on level ground then start its engine and let it warm up to normal operating temperature. Turn off the ignition switch, take off the oil filler cap and raise your car with jackstands. Remove the splash shield from underneath the engine and place a drain pan below this opening for used oil. Take out the plug gently letting old lubricant flow into your pan. Check if there are any pieces of metal in it that may suggest internal wear of your engine components. Finally, wipe clean around drain plug prior to reinstallation and tightening. Move under filter for more loosening as well as unscrewing using a filter wrench then also wipe off mounting surface at block without leaving any of these old gasket material behind in order to get rid of leaks during installation process.. Apply some oil on this new filter's rubber gasket then screw it tight enough into place once again as I remove all those tools back down where they belong finishing at lowering my vehicle afterwards since everything has been done now. Pour three quarts through an opening of an oil filler cap so that dipstick can show what level should be seen after starting another engine but such information will not come out immediately until this component stops leaking during first few moments when oils begin flowing downwards towards crankcase in front before making sure whether more is required there still or not while probably waiting instead just like everyone else has always done; however please remember never try overfilling container above maximum indicated levels either since such action might spill onto exhaust manifold case thereby igniting fire which would destroy whole automobile along with environment itself.
