    Work on only one drum brake assembly at a time. Using a hold-down spring tool, push down and give each hold-down cup a 90-degree twist. Disconnect the hold-down cups and remove the hold-down springs. Disconnect the lower shoe return spring from the brake shoes. Remove the leading and trailing shoes and the adjuster mechanism from the backing plate. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the parking brake lever. Place the leading and trailing brake shoe and adjuster assembly on a bench and remove the rest of the parts.
